Beer Cocktails: 4 Drink Ideas From a Bartender

For inside tips on beer cocktails, we talked to Artur Wnorowski, the owner/bar manager at Lokal Restaurant and Lounge in Chicago. Wnorowski has a background as an award-winning musician, but he brings more than great entertainment to this bar and restaurant. He loves to get behind the bar and mix up some new creations, and beer cocktails are one of his specialties.

How do you make it?

BEERPAGNE
5 ounces golden beer
5 ounces champagne
1/2 ounce Peach Nalewka

Pour ingredients into a tall glass filled with ice. Stir to mix and garnish with an orange slice.

How would you describe its taste?

It tastes like sparkling fruit.

When is it best to drink?

This is a great brunch drink.

Who drinks it?

Ladies tend to drink this more often.

Rush Hour

How do you make it?

RUSH HOUR
3 ounces Tyskie Beer
4 ounces 7UP
Splash of mint simple syrup
Juice from half of a freshly squeezed lemon

Add ice to a shaker, pour in ingredients and shake gently. Strain into a chilled martini glass and squeeze in the lemon juice.

How would you describe its taste?

It’s a refreshing picker upper.

When is it best to drink?

This is a good drink for the afternoon.

Who drinks it?

Anyone can enjoy the Rush Hour. It’s not especially popular with any particular group.

Ambassador

How do you make it?

AMBASSADOR
3 ounces Lech Beer
1 1/2 ounces Zubrowka Vodka
Apple cider

Pour beer into a rocks glass filled with ice. Add vodka and stir gently. Finish with apple cider and garnish with a lime wedge.

How would you describe its taste?

It’s got a very earthy taste.

When is it best to drink?

Men like this with brunch.

Who drinks it?

This is more popular with the guys.

Berry Buzz

How do you make it?

BERRY BUZZ
3 ounces Zywiec beer
1 1/2 ounces blackberry brandy

Pour beer into a pint glass. Top it off with the blackberry brandy.

How would you describe its taste?

It is bittersweet.

When is it best to drink?

This is a good cocktail for the evening.

Who drinks it?

Just about anyone can enjoy a Berry Buzz.
